Ayurveda is built on the understanding that all Dis-ease is a manifestation of an imbalance of (Elemental) energies. If you live in balance disease will naturally fade away. Ayurveda seeks to help understand that balance, so we can live in alignment with nature. This is primarily done by looking at the elements as a Trinity known as the Doshas.
Kapha (Earth+Water) Blood, Bone, Flesh etc.
Pitta (Fire+Water) Digestive System
Vata (Air+Ethereal Elements) Electrical system (EX: Nervous system)
The Doshas are present everywhere. They are what make us, as well as the food we eat. We can adjust the balance of our bodies through the food we eat. Ayurveda looks at the energetic qualities of food, and how that effects us. Beyond the Doshas there is also the Gunas. The vibrational frequencies.
Satvic (High Vibe) Highly nourishing and energizing EX: Salad, Fruits, Lighter Veggies
Rajasic (Middle Vibe) Sensually stimulating EX: Chocolate, Spicy foods, Heavier Veggies
Tamasic (Low Vibe) Stagnant/Stabilizing EX: Processed/Artificial foods, Meats, Cheeses, Onions, and Garlic.
